Red and green isn’t usually our go-to color combination when it comes to interiors or, well, anything that doesn’t have to do with the holidays. But after we got a peek into one couple’s Austin home and spotted the red handles used in the kitchen, our minds were changed in an instant. In fact, this kitchen really proves that your green cabinets don’t have to be like every other person’s green cabinets

The deep moss of the millwork (it’s painted in Farrow & Ball’s Green Smoke) serves as the perfect canvas for a pop of color. Even if you’re renting, cabinet pulls can be a great way to add some personality to a space you’re just a little tired of. And it gets better: The designer behind the kitchen sourced the drawer pulls from Amazon—and they’re only $7.

The LBFEEL hardware comes in four different hole sizes for easy installation and four colors, but we vote for going all in on the red. They’re made of zinc alloy, a superstrong and light material that won’t add any heft when you’re balancing lunch and tugging open a drawer with your only available pinkie.

If you’re looking for a similar vibe or you’re about to take on a big reno, don’t sleep on what Amazon has to offer. You will have to set aside time for a bit of deep digging, but you can find heritage cabinet hardware if you look hard enough. And don’t forget to play with shape. We love these ball knobs, which can be stained or painted for further customization (here’s a similar option on Amazon that’s $9 for a pack of 10). The real lesson here is that there are serious gems to be found—and that you should really pay more attention to your drawer pulls.
