Nothing says “I’m an A-lister who enjoys my peace and privacy” quite like a home so secluded, you could walk right by—and back again—and never even know you’d crossed its path. Often thoughtfully concealed by sky-high hedges, tree-lined drives, and vine-covered walls, celebrities will go to extreme lengths to keep their humble abodes hidden from view—and actress Lucy Liu is no exception.
Tucked discreetly within a small gated enclave in the Fryman Canyon area of LA’s Studio City, Liu’s tranquil, Craftsman-style home was made with post-red carpet zen in mind. According to Variety, after 17 years of calling the sweet bungalow home, the Charlie’s Angels star has decided to sell her four-bedroom spread for $4.1 million.
Built in 1959, the intimate, two-story pad is all about old-school character. Vintage nickel and copper ceiling tiles, custom wood cabinetry, and a rustic poolside cabana are just a few of the noteworthy elements that give the home its one of a kind charm. Although the New York City-born actress also owns an ultra chic apartment in Manhattan (her primary residence), we’re guessing this stellar outdoor space won’t be easy to give up.
Flanked by floor-to-ceiling windows and a large corner fireplace, the open living room is a haven for natural light, and also offers easy access to the adjoining library. With character and wall space to spare, this open and airy spot seems to be a prime space to showcase a knockout art collection and cuddle up with a new read.
Lined with handmade ceramic tiles, the nearby eat-in kitchen makes a case for rich wood cabinetry. The celeb-approved cookhouse comes complete with high-end appliances and a separate breakfast nook, so self-professed caffeine addicts can sip on their morning java in peace.
In addition to the home’s media lounge, the master bedroom—which comes lined with Italian leather panels—boasts sliding glass doors that lead out to the lush backyard and stone-paved terrace, where a spa-like swimming pool, elevated jacuzzi, and isolated cabana sit nestled against the leafy hillside. We’ve seen our fair share of serene abodes that champion indoor-outdoor living, and Liu’s ultra-zen space certainly doesn’t disappoint.
Character, location, and square footage aside, potential buyers will also be equally wow’d by the home’s sweet celebrity pedigree. Per Variety, when Liu first picked up the property back in 2001, she snagged the secluded retreat for an undisclosed amount from fellow Academy Award-winning actress Patricia Arquette. Bragging rights and a killer backyard? Sounds like a deal to us.
