For actor and Homecourt founder Courteney Cox, CeCe, her best-selling scent, is so much more than notes of cedarwood, cinnamon, and cardamom—it’s the fragrance she’s been wearing for years. “It just feels like me,” says Cox. So when it came time to concoct a new aroma, along with Homecourt’s first-ever line of body-care products, she wanted it to feel just as personal. Cox naturally turned to her 20-year-old daughter, Coco, for inspiration.
“She’s my daughter, so I’m going to say this, but she really is a special human being,” says Cox. Knowing that her kid loves the water, Cox decided to take the new collection, dubbed Cocomoi, in a summery direction, pairing her favorite hints of cedarwood and cracked pepper with coconut water and fig. She presented a handful of versions to her daughter in the lab, then asked her to pick her favorite. (Cox had her own preference, but she wasn’t going to give that information up just yet.) “I laid them out, she walked in, and she knew what all the notes were—and I had never told her,” Cox shares. Coco’s nose led her to none other than the one Mom happened to like most. “It’s exotic; it’s sophisticated; it’s earthy; it’s grounded yet fresh,” Cox continues. “That was the one.”
Out today, the Cocomoi collection features a body wash, body mist, body cream, a rollerball fragrance, and—for all the home-care-focused shoppers out there—a candle. Ahead, in her own words, Cox spotlights a few of her favorite new Homecourt finds, shares a few fresh cleaning hacks, and reveals her go-to summer wedding gift.
The Last-Minute Fragrance Fix
Cocomoi Body Mist, Homecourt ($38)
Shop NowI love perfume oil. I wear it all the time, but to have something that you can just spray on in your car before a meeting or carry around that’s light…I’m obsessed. It smells good, but it’s not like, “Whoa, someone’s trying to impress by putting on perfume.”
The Candle That Keeps on Giving
Cocomoi Candle, Homecourt ($65)
Shop NowThe Cocomoi candle could go anywhere: outside next to your barbecue, or in your kitchen or bedroom, or next to your tub. I entertain every Sunday, and there’s a bathroom right by the patio. I’ll light a candle [in there], and if the doors are open, it wafts throughout the house and outside. It has such a nice throw, and that’s something I’m really proud of.
The candles are also reusable: I give my vessels away all the time. You get to the end; put boiling water in; the little wick comes out; and then you put a succulent, cotton swabs, or pens in it.
The Unexpected Way to Use Dish Soap and Spray
I go nuts with the counter spray. I use it on a Swiffer, and I go around just to do a touch-up clean. I use it on my outdoor carpet. With the dish soap, I’ll put that in a bucket with water and also clean the wood floors in the house. I even use it in the toilet.
The Ideal Summer Wedding Gift
As far as weddings go, I usually rely on people’s registries, because everyone has such different taste. But I am a HexClad fan. People don’t always invest in pots and pans, really good ones. A great set of knives is always a nice wedding gift, too—things that people go, “Oh, that’s really expensive. The one I have is fine.” Well, life is so much easier when you have something good.
