You’d almost never know that Minnie Driver’s Malibu beach getaway is really a double-wide trailer. Peppered with sunshine and subtle nods to coastal living, the actress’s California oasis is a breath of fresh air from the hustle and bustle of Los Angeles.

To transform what Driver admits was once a slightly disproportionate space into a welcoming retreat, she enlisted the help of One Kings Lane’s in-house design firm. “[The home] was lovely and charming, but I wanted something that really worked as a space to entertain in,” says Driver of the home before the makeover.

Together, the actress and the design team at One Kings Lane focused on refreshing three core spaces: the living room, the dining room, and the master bedroom. “I didn’t want a huge amount of pattern and I wanted it to be this kind of streamlined, calm space so that was my jumping-off point,” Driver continues.

Warm linens, indigo accents, and rich woods pick up on the picture-perfect beach town’s notoriously easy way of life. Warning: The images ahead might inspire a permanent beach vacation.

Steering clear of nautical cliches, a serene palette of light blues and crisp whites captures the essence of oceanside living without overwhelming the senses. The only direct references to sandy afternoons by the water are a framed vintage bathing suit and a chic wood surfboard.

Books, art, and other decorative objects fill in the gaps. Look closely at the built-in unit that surrounds the television in the living room and you’ll spot charming waterfront scenes and a range of small ceramics that pick up on the breezy blue hues that are used throughout the home.

A soft linen pendant shade and striped area rug set the scene for casual-cool gatherings in the dining room. The rustic-industrial dining chairs and table serve as a refreshing counterpoint to the streamlined simplicity of the blue kitchen cabinetry in the distance. If we had a dining room like this—with picturesque views to match—we’d never eat out.

The best part about Driver’s airy home makeover? It’s actually attainable. From the bench at the foot of her bed down to the living room coffee table, you can re-create your own beach oasis by shopping her favorite decor picks through her customized makeover page on One Kings Lane.

“I was absolutely blown away,” says Driver of the finished space. “I knew it was going to be lovely because we picked everything out, but seeing it go from rendered drawings to actually there in the space has made me so happy. I absolutely love it.”
