Twice a year, more than 100,000 vintage enthusiasts meet in a tiny town in Texas for the Round Top Antiques Fair. It’s a pilgrimage that interior pros like Kelly Wearstler and Leanne Ford have made many times before, but even nondesigners are keen to attend. Turns out, actor and antiques admirer Brooklyn Decker did some serious treasure hunting at the latest fair in what she called a “whiplash of a sourcing trip.”
In a recent Instagram post, the Just Go With It star shared her score: a set of Pernilla arm chairs by Swedish designer Bruno Mathsson. The pieces, which she bought from the vendor Eneby Home, feature worn-down, caramel tufted leather cushions with matching headrests draped over a high-back bentwood frame. If there’s anything we know about Decker, it’s that she loves putting a fresh spin on classics, so we’re guessing she has plans to refurbish the leather (or even swath it in new fabric) in the near future.
Part of the thrill of antiquing is in the hunt, but if you don’t have the patience for it, you’re in luck. 1stDibs carries a ton of iterations of authentic Pernilla chairs (right now, you can snag a jade-colored leather one or a super-fuzzy one with a built-in footrest). For a more laid-back lounger with mobile appeal, this woven canvas chaise comes on wheels. Because the price of an original Mathsson design is pretty steep (that chaise will cost you a cool $15,000), we also found a few more affordable alternatives that are seemingly inspired by the same combination of style and comfort of which Decker is a fan.
