Black-and-white hex floor tiles, glossy emerald vanities, white marble countertops—these are the details you expect to find in a vintage New York bathroom. They’re also the main features of One Kings Lane and Block Renovation’s first-ever collaboration. The home furnishings retailer teamed up with the “room in a box” company to launch two all-inclusive bathroom remodel packages inspired by the Big Apple—a fitting starting point since both brands are based in NYC.
The process is straightforward (customers pick the option they like the most, set up a consultation visit, and then get started on the gut), but the designs are more involved than Block’s typical offerings. “For many years, it’s felt like everything should be white,” says Becca Roderick, director of interior design at One Kings Lane. “There is so much sameness out there in the world of design right now, and we wanted to do something different.” Colorful walls, curvy mirrors, and semi-custom subway tile are a few ways they’re adding character.
Both packages feature a green cabinet. From there, you can choose between pink or blue for the walls. The blush scheme is much softer, with a brass sink faucet and showerhead, while the blue space takes a more industrial turn with darker fixtures. Roderick and Block’s creative director, Jeff Lai, paid close attention to the details, like glazing the trim rather than finishing the tile with a traditional bullnose. Prices for the One Kings Lane x Block bathrooms start at $20,900.
The companies take care of all the permanent materials and fixtures (the dimmer, the grout, the valves), as well as labor, building approvals, deliveries, and installation. You, on the other hand, can get creative with rugs, trays, and the various accessories One Kings Lane provides in its catalog. Essentially, you’re skipping the hard decisions and jumping right to the fun part.
