We’re guessing there’s already a summer barbecue invitation pinned up on your refrigerator. People are ready to host outdoors again, especially those who have the right tools (aka a mini alfresco kitchen). Fortunately it’s not too late for you to do the same: RTA Outdoor Living just launched a modular outdoor kitchen system that you can order, receive, and assemble in just one week. The kitchens start rolling out the third week of June, so even though Memorial Day has passed, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and really any sunny afternoon in between are still on the table.
According to the company, the system can be assembled in an hour or less, as it only requires a screwdriver and two people to put the parts together (it also helps that the cabinet panels and countertops are super-lightweight and lock together by sliding). The smallest version (6 feet wide) starts at $6,895 and comes with an integrated grill and pull-out trash can. After you’ve set it up in a flash, here are some ways to really bring your entertaining space to life.
Situate It on a Pergola
Measuring 32 feet across and 16 feet deep, this ultramodern pavilion that the founders of 2LG Studio built in their London backyard (it’s made out of the hard-wearing, stain-resistant recycled material board called HD Pro by Composite Prime) is an elevated alternative to heaps of concrete. There’s even a partially covered dining area, so you can take your plate right over to the table after you’ve made it.
Surround It With Greenery
Transport your open-air party to the tropics by hanging shelves above it to display small potted plants. A work-around if you don’t have a wall to build off of: tall bamboo shoots.
Put Up a Divider
All it takes is a few 2-by-2 wood posts from Home Depot to designate mini “rooms” in your backyard. Now get cookin’!
