Since the start of the pandemic, the quest for a calming outdoor space—from patios to backyards—has been real. In a new survey from Living Spaces, more than 1,000 respondents spouted off on all things outdoors, from how much they’d spend on furniture to the most desirable feature. And one thing is clear: Most people say they want a firepit.

According to the survey, 54 percent stated a firepit was the alfresco feature they wanted most, followed by an indoor-outdoor space, a pergola, a kitchen, a bar, and an edible garden. After that, people wanted a pizza oven, shed, and outdoor shower the least.

Which makes sense, because when we first covered this smokeless version last year, a favorite of actor Amanda Seyfried’s, it was because it was flying off shelves. (Don’t worry; we found other available options, too.)

The same Living Spaces survey showed about half of people want to spend $150 to $500 on outdoor furniture, so we also searched for the best firepits that fit within that budget, from a smokeless version to a chic iron one that’s perfect for marshmallows and long chats, no matter the season.
