We can’t recall another moment in history when a wallpaper print became a point of national concern. Nevertheless, it only seems fitting that the first major wall covering debate was sparked by Kylie Jenner, a decor lover who has seemed to make a habit out of dubious design decisions.

In a recent Instagram post, the newly minted billionaire shared a photo of herself squatting in her master bedroom’s sumptuous pink sitting area. Despite the alluring pose, Jenner’s fans were more concerned with what appears to be muddy splotches on the wall. The beauty maven shut down her critics fast: The imperfections are actually rose-gold flakes sprinkled across a custom pink wallpaper.

As with the rest of the house, the pink sitting room (which boasts eight pill prints by Damien Hirst and lucite for days) was designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard. “I told Martyn I wanted a fresh, fun vibe to match the way I was feeling. Color was essential,” Jenner told Architectural Digest in a recent interview. “I love pink and I wanted a lot of it!”

Bullard offered a clearer picture of the one-of-a-kind room on his Instagram, and this time, we could admire the mysterious wallpaper for what it truly is.

While we never thought twice about whether Jenner had dirt on her walls, the artful treatment did get us thinking: Are rose gold and pink the next marble and brass? We’ll be keeping our eyes peeled for the complementary combo. In the meantime, here are three ways to channel the painterly look in your own home that won’t leave anyone questioning.

They say that oil and water don’t mix, but this blended wallpaper has us convinced otherwise. Leafy greenery, worn wood accents, and other organic touches will pick up on this print’s natural ways.

For the Low-Committal Type

If Jenner’s embrace of rose gold and pink is only temporary, you’ll feel less guilty about jumping on the trend bandwagon with removable wallpaper.

For the Naturally Zen

Channel the wispy manner of Jenner’s dusted rose-gold print with this equally breezy pick, which is inspired by the Anthriscus plant.
