By now you’ve probably heard the news: Keeping Up With the Kardashians is coming to an end. While we’re mourning the loss of Kim Kardashian West’s crying face and Kris Jenner’s momager antics, there’s one element we’ll miss most of all: the homes. Dedicated viewers of the E! series know that the real star of the show was the interiors, from Kim and husband Kanye West’s Axel Vervoordt–designed, minimalist “monastery” to Kendall Jenner’s contemporary art-filled pad (complete with works by Richard Prince and James Turrell). After almost 14 years on air, the family’s decor style has seriously evolved—and now’s the perfect time to look back.

From the early Calabasas days, when Kim, Kourtney, and Khloé lived among oversize couches and those iconic black-and-white checkerboard floors, KUTWK has documented every design choice the the family has made. If you don’t have time to go back and binge-watch the entire series, check out our favorite throwback moments, below.

While Kim’s current home style is decidedly minimalist, she started her reality TV journey with a much more relatable bathroom setup. In 2012, long before the birth of KKW Beauty, she relied on everyday plastic organizational tools to hold her cosmetics in her bathroom, which also featured a countertop mirror, walnut cabinetry, and some artistic shower tiles. By 2020 she upgraded her selfie stance and traded in the Caboodles for a Claudio Silvestrin–designed sanctuary with only the essentials: concrete, light wood, and sleek hardware.

Before Kris set her family on the path to superstardom, she favored some classic 2000s suburban home decor—including dark-stained woods, a cozy bright red couch, and faux plants, as seen in an early clip from the show, below. But soon enough, the checkerboard entryway in her Hidden Hills home became the backdrop of some of KUTWK’s most infamous scenes—and a design statement we’ll never forget.

Kourtney

Kim famously deemed her sister Kourtney the “least interesting to look at,” but Kourtney’s design choices are anything but. Check out the “glam ski lodge” vibe she had going in one of her first homes in the early 2010s: textured, tonal wallpaper; fuzzy blankets; and deer antlers galore. These days she relaxes in a much more pared-down, neutral living room, designed by Martyn Lawrence Bullard.

In 2015 Khloé favored a muted palette: Her Thanksgiving dinner put her black and white dining room on display, featuring sculptural white chairs and snowflake-style cutout pendant lights. While she clearly still loves her neutrals, she’s ditched the dark accent pieces in her current kitchen and instead features shiny white built-ins with plenty of carefully organized storage space. One thing that’s stayed the same? Her love of over-the-top floral arrangements.

As the youngest members of the Kar-Jenner family, Kendall and Kylie didn’t have their own homes in the early years of the show. But like all teen girls, they took great pride in their childhood bedrooms. Kendall shopped her entire room from Restoration Hardware (celebs, they’re just like us!) and proudly displayed her many necklaces on a mannequin. In Kylie’s room, the wall-to-wall bulletin board stole the show. Today the Jenner sisters each have their own place in Los Angeles: Kylie is keeping her love of photo collages alive with a massive gallery wall framing her cream and shearling-accented entryway, and Kendall kicks back in her artfully designed bathroom complete with a brass Catchpole & Rye tub.
