Sage, it was nice knowing you. After a gloomy couple of years, we’re ready to wake up our homes with a sunnier shade that’s coincidentally popping up everywhere. We recently spotted Farrow & Ball’s Citrona brightening a back room in this L.A. house. In Paris, we caught a buttery shade warming up the walls, chairs, and table in the de Gournay x Vincent Darré show house’s dining room. On a smaller scale, our new favorite hue has been seen thriving on tabletops—just take Heath Ceramics‘s summery collection of wares, for example. We’re calling it: Everything’s coming up daffodil.

In fact, Pantone’s fashion trend report for spring/summer 2022 pointed out a “desire for comforting familiarity and joyful adventure,” which runways proved to be true. Of all the chromatic experts’ playful predictions, we’re leaning into daffodil because the idea of fresh flowers takes us to a 70-and-sunny happy place where our biggest problems involve tinkering with our spring garden. But more than that, the lively essence of this bloom (often the first perennial to blossom after a frosty season) is the much-needed antidote to a long, cold winter.

When it comes to working the botanical color into your home, keep in mind its versatility. The smile-inducing hue works in small doses, like on a patterned throw pillow or a Scandi-style candlestick on a coffee table. But because this yellow is mellow, you can easily scale it up by painting an entire room in it or choosing to make a sofa in the shade the star of your living room.

Best of all, you don’t need a green thumb to take advantage of this season’s joy-sparking color. Instead tend to your home with these daffodil-splashed picks.
