We were excited enough the first time CB2 announced its inaugural collection in partnership with Fred Segal back in August 2017, so needless to say, we’re pretty thrilled that the collaboration is back for round two. The second installation of CB2 x Fred Segal just launched today, and is officially available to shop now.

The “Pool Party Collection” centers, unsurprisingly, around summer. Featuring indoor and outdoor furniture, seasonally appropriate accessories, and even fun games (we have never wanted a bocce ball set more), the line runs the gamut from small decorative pieces to larger staple items.

“After seeing the success of our Fall collection, we were even more excited to launch the second part of our collaboration with the Fred Segal team,” says CB2 Managing Director Ryan Turf. “In terms of similarities, the process itself was just as seamless and fun as the first time around. We wanted our second collection to encompass indoor and outdoor living—the fun layers like the bocce set, pool float, and beach towels take the collection in a new direction from the first collection, which was focused on the workspace.”

Ranging in price from $5.95 to $2,199, the Pool Party collection is similar to the first collab in that it also blends CB2’s signature, sleek, contemporary aesthetic with Fred Segal’s California cool vibe. The colors included are simple and punchy: The very few patterns aren’t overcomplicated. It’s a perfect combination of two very distinct aesthetics, which was something Turf says they were looking to preserve in the collection.

“Throughout the collection, you’ll see shapes and colors that we often gravitate to at CB2, such as gold accents and unconventional sofas. From Fred Segal’s end, you’ll find their signature colors and fresh pop art sensibility incorporated,” he says. “We wanted our second collection to be all about fun and entertainment, both inside and outside the home.”

Pieces like brass side tables and a navy velvet sofa are undoubtedly staple items you’ll be able to get use out of year after year—though playful touches, like cactus-shaped legs on the glass coffee table, ensure these staples are anything but boring. White terrazzo serving ware for backyard get-togethers and teak lounge chairs are an elegant take on traditionally cheap-looking outdoor essentials. However, it’s the smaller pieces, like the red, blue, and white striped beach towel, that grab Turf’s attention: “It’s so hard to find fun, quality beach towels. I can’t wait to purchase these myself.”

All in all, the collection is a simultaneously sophisticated and irreverent take on outdoor decor, which is fitting, given that the inspiration was rooted in the 1970s.

“We were inspired by the feeling you might get if you were sitting poolside at the Hollywood Hills in the ’70s—think sleek white furniture, statement pool floats, and chic game sets,” says Turf. “At CB2, we’re all about having fun and not taking ourselves too seriously, and it was important to us and the Fred Segal team to express that throughout the collection.”

The CB2 x Fred Segal collection is now available to shop at cb2.com and all CB2 stores.
