There are a lot of ways to illuminate your outdoor space: you can hang string lights over the dining table, line a pathway with solar lamps, hardwire sconces on either side of your front door—we could go on. But there’s a serious lack of design options. Most outdoor fixtures are limited to bronze, black, and brass finishes. It’s a bit of a snooze fest, and we aren’t the only ones who think so. Cortney and Robert Novogratz agree, which is why the designer couple teamed up with British lighting brand Pooky to change the narrative. “You’ll see someone paint their front door a really bright color, so we thought, wouldn’t it be fun to bring that to outdoor sconces and lanterns?”

The Pooky x Novogratz collection spans 14 pieces, ranging from retro lanterns to funky floor lamps in punchy shades of blue, pink, green, and yellow. “When we see rechargeable outdoor lighting, everyone was doing little, solid-colored table lamps. We were like, ‘That’s not going to cut it for us,’” shares Jo Plant, Pooky’s chief creative officer. And that’s not even the best part. The collection relies on Pooky’s clever rechargeable Genesis batteries, so you can use the fixtures absolutely anywhere without hunting down the nearest outlet or calling an electrician.

One of the most versatile pieces in the assortment is the Stefan Lantern. Available in three sizes (starting at $175) and four hues, the powder-coated pieces can be perched atop a side table, styled along a staircase, or hung from a tree. Speaking of dangling lights from high places, the Talulah jute pendants are ideal for a dreamy al fresco dining situation if you’ve got a large branch or pergola overhead.

Working within the confines of a balcony or patio? Pepper your space with floor and table lamps to achieve that coveted indoor-outdoor feel. “I love the idea of having standing lamps around your dinner table,” says Plant. And for the nights when you plan on having friends over, don’t sleep on the Bellamy Candle Sconce. “It didn’t feel like a lighting collection unless we added candles. Because in our own life, when we entertain, they’re very important,” adds Cortney.

While your Genesis bulbs will need a charge indoors after 15-ish hours of use, every light in the collection is designed to be left outside (apart from the Brandy Wall Sconce, the sole indoor fixture in the group).
