Shabbat is my favorite holiday. I (generally) put my phone away; I’m usually cooking; and friends come over to share a meal. We light candles, sing prayers, pull pieces of challah, and sip wine. Then we eat. What is better than that after a long week? I make it a point to collect all sorts of Judaica from brands I love and while traveling, so I was pretty excited to see that Our Place released a limited-edition Shabbat Set in a new colorway called Eve, an aquatic teal. It includes the company’s Oven Pan, a reusable Oven Mat, a challah cover designed in collaboration with Minna, and beeswax candlesticks.

I appreciate naturally nondrippy candles (yes, I do put aluminum foil underneath most others), and love the minimal handwoven cover. The Oven Pan is nonstick even without the mat, and I like that there are properly built-in handles, too, unlike most sheet pans. Important: There is room for two loaves of challah, enough for half a loaf per person at a four-top dinner party—not bad!
I could go on and on about what Shabbat has come to mean to me over the course of the pandemic, but I’ll leave you with this: What I gained in the absence of gathering has become deeply soulful, a regular touchstone in our week. It’s a reminder to find a place of slowness within ourselves, and to be thankful for the togetherness we’re afforded by it, whether in person or not. (P.S.
