Jeremiah Brent didn’t have to look far for inspiration when rug brand Loloi asked him if he’d collaborate on a rug collection. The interior designer and new Queer Eye star turned to the West Village, his favorite neighborhood in Manhattan and the place where he and his husband Nate Berkus once owned and renovated a circa-1899 townhouse. Brent’s just-launched collab spans 20 rugs that fall into mini collections, all named after streets in the iconic downtown neighborhood (Barrow, Bleeker, Greenwich, Perry), and go heavy on rich colors and abstract patterns. “This collection is all about carving your own path. Just as there are a million ways to get to the same destination in New York, there are countless ways to style your space with these pieces,” shares Brent.

As you start to peruse Brent’s designs for the brand (psst: they’re available on Amazon, Wayfair, and Rugs Direct), don’t forget to ask yourself his top three rug-buying questions: “Is the rug large enough to anchor the space without overwhelming it?” “How will the tones and texture layer in warmth, depth, and energy?” And, finally, before you click check out: “Did I remember the rug pad?”

Most of the rugs ring in just under $300 for a 5’x7’ size and there are also pillows in the mix starting at a mere $29, which means you don’t have to stretch your budget for a Brent-worthy space. Catch our favorite pieces from the collab below.
The Abstracts
Brent’s best advice when styling furniture on top of an irregular patterned rug is to not overthink it. “I like to give designs like these a bit of extra breathing room—embracing the negative space between furniture and allowing the eye to rest between pattern and form,” he says.
The Solids
If you’re looking to add instant coziness to a room, look no further than the Greenwich collection. “The tones are rich and textured with a high-low pile variation that gives this rug such beautiful dimension,” says the designer. The mixed cotton-wool rugs also come in gold-yellow, white, sage, and rust.
The Geometrics
ICYMI: Brent is all in on Art Deco these days, and the meandering lines on the hand-tufted Barrow Olive/Natural rug really drive home his empire state of mind.
The Stripes
While the Perry rugs are only available to the trade (they’re made with a special soumak weave construction that creates beautiful details and a sturdy, thick weave) they’ve got us pining for all things striped. So for everyone else out there, we suggest pivoting to the sage/granite colorway in the Bleeker rug, and for an extra dose of the pattern, top your sofa or bed with the Sullivan pillows. “From far away, this pillow reads as a solid but up close, the muted stripes and subtle flange add the perfect pop of color and pattern to any space,” says Brent. Now we just need a storied New York City townhouse to complete the picture.
