This New Performance Rug Is About as Close to Real Wool as It Gets

But it can handle 10 years of sun.

There was a time when choosing a performance rug meant making peace with the fact that it would look like a performance rug. The trade-off for something that could handle muddy feet, spilled coffee, and a sunny living room was often a suspiciously synthetic sheen. Jaipur Living’s on a mission to debunk that compromise, and its newest debut makes a good case.

Launching today, CallaLuxe is a 75-piece rug collection designed to mimic the softness, texture, and saturated color of wool while standing up to considerably more wear and tear. The secret is a proprietary solution-dyed fiber, meaning the color is embedded into the fiber during manufacturing rather than applied to its surface afterward.

That distinction matters when your floor covering meets a glass of Cabernet. The numbers prove it: In independent lab testing, CallaLuxe rugs could be rid of 11 common stains—including wine, coffee, and mustard—after each product or ingredient sat for 24 hours. That means most everyday spills can be cleaned with soap and water, while particularly stubborn ones can even be treated with diluted bleach without stripping the rug of its color. In the same suite of tests, the fibers also held onto their hue after 400 hours of continuous UV exposure (which the brand equates to roughly 10 years of direct sunlight) and endured 12,000 abrasion cycles meant to simulate heavy foot traffic. That’s serious staying power, if you ask us.

But, more importantly, the rugs don’t scream indestructible. CallaLuxe comes in handwoven, hand-tufted, and hand-knotted constructions, with colors like pine, burgundy, camel, and clay that skew more moody living room than outdoor patio. Just like that, performance rugs leveled way up.
