I love watching television. A very high percentage of my evenings are spent taking in movies and shows. Yet, for someone so committed to TV, I really don’t want one to be the focal point of my living room. Thankfully, IKEA has come up with a particularly clever solution, and, unexpectedly, I have XBOX to thank.

The new nine-piece YXSTABY collection, which is in stores now and available online next month, was designed by IKEA and XBOX around the idea that gaming no longer happens in a dedicated room or even necessarily in one place. But you don’t need to be a gamer to appreciate its smartest small-space idea: IKEA’s first-ever rolling TV stand.

The minimalist stand can move from room to room, while built-in storage at the back gives cords, consoles, remotes, and other unsightly necessities somewhere to live. At just $150 and compatible with TVs up to 55 inches, the sleek, powder-coated steel frame is a great deal, too. The rest of the YXSTABY capsule leans more heavily into its gaming origins with a rolling side table, controller storage, and even a stool inspired by an XBOX thumbstick, but I love the multi-functionality of the TV stand.

For a studio apartment or small living room that serves several purposes, or if you just don’t want to mount a screen on the wall, it’s essentially a way to make your TV disappear without investing in a projector or elaborate custom cabinetry. How’s that for multi-functionality?
