A hand soap is a hand soap is a hand soap, right? Courteney Cox will convince you otherwise. Her latest Homecourt launch, the Exfoliating Cece Hand Wash, not only cleanses your skin, it renews it. “I am a huge fan of exfoliation… my hands, my body, or my face,” explains Cox. “I find that it helps products absorb into your skin and enhances their benefits.”

“Barely-there” granules gently polish the skin, while plant-derived extracts and argan oil hydrate and seal in moisture. Earthy notes of cedar, cinnamon, and leather—Cox’s signature scent—make it a moment of zen for the nose, too. Essentially, it’s a spa treatment in a bottle.

Rather than replace your everyday soap, Cox recommends her new hand wash as an addition to your current sink lineup. “The exfoliating hand wash is a treatment that can be used once or twice a day, whereas the [regular] hand wash can be used as often as needed,” she says. What are Cox’s other must-haves—and definitely-nots—for a spa-like bathroom? Get the rundown, below.

On her design approach:

I believe your home should be cared for the same way you care for yourself, so your bathroom should feel both functional and beautiful. I love organic materials, stone, ceramics, wood, and linen. My products are always on the counter. Homecourt was intentionally created to be displayed as opposed to put away.

On her bathroom essentials:

I love Once Milano hand towels, Homecourt candles, and our hand wash and hand cream. I’m also obsessed with our room deodorizer, which should be in every bathroom, always, and our Cocomoi body care line.

On her biggest bathroom design pet peeves:

Design is so personal, but I do have some pet peeves that I run into a lot: When the toilet paper holder is loose as if people have used it to stand up… I’m pretty sure that happens at my house. I also don’t like when the toilet paper roll is put upside down, I think it should be pulled down from the top, not the bottom. Oh, and one other…I think it’s important to have a trash can with a lid on it in the bathroom!
