Situated in South Africa’s Grotto Bay, a whitewashed beach house of a minimalist feel emulates the serene simplicity of its surround. Its backdrop, miles of fluctuating shades of ocean blues, establish a tonal contrast against the stark exterior of the home. Inside, the exterior’s aesthetic is replicated in an effortless fashion, incorporating a slew of natural textures and organic elements. Here, we rounded up a few tricks of the trade, to help you usher the look into your space.
In the living room, a streamlined sectional fits right in with the all-white decor of the space. An oversized sheepskin blanket lends a textural layer atop the contemporary seating while the flawless integration of the wooden elements brings about a natural dynamic to the decor.
A glass coffee table lends a contemporary touch to the space, elevating the otherwise rustic aesthetic.
Note the captivating contrast between the stark white walls and the wooden surround of the fireplace, which complement the handful of wooden furnishings that make up the living room.
When it comes to the design of the dining room, simplicity is key. The vintage-inspired dining set features a whitewashed table paired with similarly-styled seats with a wicker accent.
The consistency of the aesthetic translates seamlessly into the kitchen, conveniently located aside the dining room. The open layout emulates the all-white design scheme along with the array of sources of natural light, flooding in from all corners of the home.
Above the kitchen island, a pair of barely-there pendants instill a hint of contrast and edge to the delicate details of the room.
In the streamlined bedroom a modest mix of furnishings pay tribute to the minimalist makeup of the decor, accentuated by rich textures and materials. Here, the trio of monotone shades prove to be just enough.
Only within a beach house would an oversized tub be found directly in the bedroom. With sweeping views of the ocean directly aside the tub, we couldn’t think of a better spot for a little R&R.
An eclectic array of seats, casually dispersed throughout the outdoor space, provide the perfect spot for taking in the breathtaking views of the bay.
