Your favorite naturally fizzy, good-for-you drink is now seeping into your skincare products. Kombucha, the fermented tea with a sceney cult status following, is becoming a must-have for glowy skin. And it’s for good reason: The fermentation in the drink can have as many incredible benefits for your face as it does for your body when you drink it.

“Kombucha literally acts like ‘makeup from within’: It increases overall skin glow, clarity, and skin freshness. It also addresses skin tone by increasing rosy tones and lowering olive and dull skin tones. Finally, it plumps skin like a ‘lipo-filling procedure’ would do; it’s probably one of the most comprehensive skin beauty enhancing actives,” says Sue Y. Nabi.

And Nabi would know, too: The former Lancôme and L’Oréal CEO has just launched (with co-founder Nicolas Vu) her very own skincare line. It’s called Orveda, and it’s entirely dedicated to the power of kombucha. Yep, kombucha is so powerful, a beauty legend centers an entire new line around it.

Besides just drinking kombucha, there are several ways to incorporate it into your regime—from eye creams to serums to moisturizers. Here are our very favorites.

Healing Sap, Orveda, $150

Orveda’s trademarked bio-fermented kombucha black tea formula improves overall skin quality by enhancing skin smoothness, color, brightness, luster, transparency, and radiance. Why kombucha? Well, instead of using harsh chemicals that disturb the skin’s natural renewal system, Orveda works with your skin’s natural processes and microflora—specifically bacteria, enzymes, and yeast—to reactivate healthy skin. This Healing Sap is at the heart of the Orveda range, and acts as a hybrid mix between a toner and a serum. It’s an all-in-one glow-getter, almost like a skin fertilizer. And you seriously want that—because, after all, healthy skin is glowing skin.

Black Tea Kombucha Facial Treatment Essence, Fresh, $68

This kombucha and fermented sweet black tea formula increases luminosity, softens the look of fine lines, replenishes moisture, and refines the appearance of skin. Use it as the first step after washing your face: The concentrated ingredients prep skin for the rest of your regime and provide protection from skin-damaging pollutants and free radicals.

And it turns out that for Fresh, kombucha is no trending ingredient, either: Co-founder Lev Glazman has long been obsessed with the many health benefits of the fermented tea. “Fresh was way ahead of the kombucha trend with our Black Tea Complex, but I was so infatuated with this ingredient, I wanted to highlight its immense power on its own,” said Glazman in a press release. “After extensive research into its potent properties, we made kombucha the star of this concentrated liquid formula that refines pores and fades fine lines for a smooth, supple, crystalline complexion.”

Skin Elixir, Whal Myung, $58

This special herbal mix was created for the royal family of the Joseon dynasty in 1897 in Korea, serving as a medicine of sorts to prevent general illnesses. While it’s still available in Korea for purchase as a wellness drink, Whal Myung is taking those same fermented herbs and putting them in a toner. Using a blend of 11 herbs, this formula calms, nourishes, and hydrates.

Miracle Tea Complete Eye Creme, Juara, $53

Kombucha in an eye cream might seem a little odd at first, but a probiotic around your eyes does wonders for firming, hydration, and reducing dark circles and puffiness. Specifically, kombucha is great for hydration and tightening the skin around the eyes (thanks to the tightening caffeine in black tea). Over time with continued use, eyes look more rested and hydrated, and less puffy.
