Fixer Upper fans, we know you’re feeling bittersweet. Saying goodbye to Chip and Joanna Gaines’ HGTV show won’t be easy. Where will we go to for shiplap inspiration, farmhouse decor, and the sort of nostalgia that only comes through watching Waco, Texas transform from a college town to a lifestyle destination? Thankfully, there are other ways to experience beautiful renovations by our favorite design duo besides watching HGTV or visiting Magnolia Market. We suggest heading to Waco and booking a vacation rental designed by Chip and Joanna themselves. This is your chance to live Fixer Upper in real life but without the sawdust or stress of renovation. From a mid-century home on wooded acreage to an impossibly chic lakeside barn, we’ve rounded up our favorite rentals below.
The Downs House, $297 per night
This classic fixer-upper has charmed us with its navy exterior and open layout. We’re totally obsessed with the kitchen where
and bay windows rule. French doors ensure privacy, but also a sense of openness perfect for a vacationing family. We’re seeing Magnolia style sensibility in every inch of this home, from a shiplap bathroom to charming details in every room. Seriously, why aren’t we there already?
Barndominium, $742 per night
Although elevated in price, this rental sleeps 20. Made famous in season 3’s “Barndominium” episode, this barn redefines luxe. If shiplap is your love language, this property’s dining hall is a must-see. Guests love the property’s amenities and peaceful views. We love the iron and shiplap staircase and (almost) floor-to-ceiling windows. We’re dreaming of inviting our best friends and renting this home for a weekend of Magnolia Market trips and Waco memories. Who knew wooden walls could be so chic?
The Mailander House, $200 per night
If you’ve been a Fixer Upper fan from the beginning, then you know this bicycle house from Season 1. Built in 1910, the Mailander House features a perfectly arched porch, rosewood and oak flooring, and eleven-foot ceilings. A sunny dining room is perfect for a home-cooked brunch and the kitchen is cozy—perfect for conversations with loved ones. We’re feeling seriously inspired by the living room’s use of cozy textiles and antique accents. Guests love the quaint elegance of the home and the property owner’s welcoming personality. We love the idea of staying at the Bicycle house and cycling through Waco in the fall. Hello warm Texas nights, changing leaves, and memories galore.
Mid-Century in Mountain View, $300 per night
We’re loving the mid-century modern design of this Waco home. Remodeled by Chip and Joanna, this Magnolia-approved home has major zen vibes thanks to cedar siding and wooded acreage. Equipped with a crush-worthy modern kitchen (hello, cozy sheepskins and exposed ceiling beams) and the prettiest patio ever. We’re booking our flights to Waco, right now.
The Gorman House , $475 per night
Hello, charming teal exterior of our dreams. The Gorman House boasts five bedrooms and 4 ½ bathrooms and sleeps ten. We’re entirely obsessed with the farmhouse-chic kitchen and cozy dining nook. While you stay make sure you check out activities like Magnolia Market, downtown Waco, and Spice Village.
