While the rest of us were feeding our sourdough starters and solving jigsaw puzzles, fashion designer Christian Siriano spent quarantine thinking big. What began as casual sketches to pass the time turned into his first-ever furniture collection, launching this week on 1stdibs, entirely inspired by a year spent at home.

“Inspiration came from everywhere, mainly from things I felt like I needed and wanted at home,” Siriano tells Domino. “The stools, for instance, were inspired by gumdrops, my favorite guilty-pleasure candy.” Of course, there are couture-inspired silhouettes in the mix, too. “The pieces almost look like little dresses or even people,” says the designer. “Having a fashion element was very important to me.” The Lilian club chair’s base resembles a hoop skirt, while the materials, like nubby bouclé, could be pulled straight from classic closet staples.

His inaugural line didn’t come entirely out of nowhere. Siriano launched his eponymous studio last January, hinting to fans that his love for bold, statement-making designs would soon expand beyond the red carpet. While the collection is certainly an investment (the cheapest piece, the gumdrop-esque Lily stool, retails  for $795), Siriano’s attention to detail make it a worthy one for anyone looking to bring a bit of Hollywood glamour home. You may even find yourself wanting to buy a ball gown to match your sofa.
