These 5 Bathrooms Are Inspiring Major Home Envy

A well-designed bathroom can be a complete respite from the daily grind, and no one understands this better than Shannon Wollack and Brittany Zwickl, partners of Los Angeles-based firm Studio Life.Style. The duo always strives to create a serene environment, whether it’s the home of a couple, family or bachelor pad—they love a good massive marble slab, too.
Wollack’s own Brentwood home features a gorgeous grey and white marble statement wall and countertops that is jaw-dropping beautiful. “The original inspiration for this bathroom was the bookmatched stone slabs that we fell in love with, which we then decided to build a bathroom around,” says Wollack.
Here the designers dish on are five of their best bathroom designs, and offer tips on how to get the look.
This remodel of a Silverlake bachelor pad features Restoration Hardware lights and mirror, a custom vanity and shower doors, along with metal hardware handcrafted by Hillary Nagler. “We wanted to brighten the space by adding a window and new tile, while still keeping the overall feel masculine,” says Wollack.
This San Marino grey bathroom showcases Restoration Hardware drawer pulls, Max Wanger art, and Circa Lighting sconce. “We demo’d this 1980s guest bathroom and opened up the space to make it feel fresh and new,” says Zwickl. “We wanted to create an inviting space for when this couple’s kids and grandkids come to visit.”
For this Spanish-style home in Hancock Park, the client wanted each bathroom to have a distinct design and theme. “The bathrooms in this house were fun to design,” says Zwickl. “Our client named the guest rooms and their corresponding bathrooms after their favorite cities, and this bathroom was the Miami bathroom. We kept the bathroom young and fun, because it was for their daughter.” Using blue and white Piazza Tiles for the backsplash, a Restoration Hardware light and mirror and custom vanity, they achieved a European aesthetic.
This bathroom is the New York bathroom in the same home. “We designed the bathroom to feel antiqued, but with a refined classic and unique vibe,” says Wollack. With custom antique mirror panels, Cement Tile Shop tiles on the walls, an antique sink, a Restoration Hardware pendant light, and a Rohl Home faucet, the bathroom feels positively old world.
The light, bright, and graphic master bathroom in the same Hancock Park home needed a masculine touch. “When it came to the design details, we played into the Spanish roots of the house,” says Wollack. A Newport Brass bath faucet and double shower heads with contrasting Cement Tile Shop tiles on the walls and floors helped to achieve this look.
