Acne happens—and, hey, it’s perfectly normal. But if one creeps up that’s painful and nagging, or if it’s in an inopportune area (say the tip of your nose), or if you just want to get rid of it STAT, there’s a fairly new genre of acne treatments that’s making killing that zit faster more discrete and less messy. Welcome to the world of

acne stickers

.

Yep—stickers.

How the process works is pretty straightforward: These tiny little circular stickers literally stick to your face. They have an acne-killing coating on them that quickly treats the growing zit, while also preventing additional bacterial interactions, redness, and picking. While hydrocolloid technology has been used for decades by doctors to speed skin healing, it’s recently been popularized for spot acne treatment, helping to gently extract impurities while also protecting the skin’s moisture levels and creating a protective barrier against irritants.

You can either pop them on clean, dry skin during the day and head to work—all of these stickers are clear and subtle—or you can use them overnight as an intense treatment. (Eight hours is about the maximum amount of time you want to have them on, though.)

Oh, and pro tip: You can use these on your body, too. Just place one on and go about your day. And because we live in a beautiful skincare time, there’s a plethora of brands and options available, varying in both price point and formula. Let us count the ways, shall we?

Acne Healing Dots, Peace Out, $19

These patent-pending

acne dots

are infused with salicylic acid to kill acne-causing bacteria, and they also contain vitamin A and aloe vera to help heal skin and soothe redness. The brand says it can make blemishes less red, painful, and irritated in as little as six hours. The box has 20 dots in total.

Acne Spot Dots, Peach Slices, $4.49

You’ll be hard pressed to find a more effective treatment for under $5. And in a brilliant plot twist, these babies come in sizes, with 30 dots total. From teeny tiny to small to medium, whatever size pimple you’re dealing with, this box has an option. And these dots have a pretty cult following, too. One reviewer said, “I put it on before I go to bed, and I wake up with nothing where a huge mountain used to be.”

Blemish Dots with Salicylic Acid, Skyn Iceland, $20

The potent mix of salicylic acid and tea tree oil helps to calm inflammation and detoxify, and the stickers stick on better than other ones we’ve tried previously. Each box has 48 dots.

Acne-Clear Invisible Dots, Peter Thomas Roth, $30

These dots come in two sizes and have a .5 percent salicylic acid mix to help effectively target acne. They’re also formulated with hyaluronic acid to help prevent drying or irritation. The cost is a bit more than the others listed here, but it does have 72 dots in one box—so, more zit-killing capabilities!
