Every year, as soon as the temperatures begin to dip, my two cats initiate their burrowing routine. They snuggle up to my husband and I for warmth, cozy into a Self Warming Cat Bed in our closet, and practically never leave the Mau Cento cat tree (complete with cushions and cave) in the living room. We are already armed with an arsenal of cocoons, but when I got wind of Tuft & Paw’s Stellar Cat Bed—a cute spherical escape pod—my scrolling screeched to a halt. I needed it ASAP.
Tuft & Paw Stellar Cat Bed

As someone who has owned cats for a majority of her life, I’ve never encountered a pet bed like the Stellar. A handspun yarn and resin sphere rests atop a powder-coated steel frame, keeping the bed elevated off the floor. Nestled inside is a custom-fit faux fur cushion as well as a cloth sandbag to keep everything weighted in place. Just as I suspected, it has been the most popular snuggle spot for my pair of felines since we added it to a nook in our primary bedroom.
The girls are older now—Penny is 16 and larger, while Tiny is 14 and sized true to her name—and it took a week for them to become familiar and comfortable with the new habitat (unlike the Nuzzle Cat Bed, which they never fully loved). But, these days, both are vying for personal time in the dome.
The main portion is adjustable, so the window can be higher or lower depending on preference, and its construction is semi-rigid; I know it will have years of use ahead of us. The cushion comes with a removable cover that can be tossed in the wash, and the Stellar’s petite size means it nestles perfectly into a corner. Thankfully, the entrance is plenty large enough for Penny while still providing the cave-like qualities my cats are desperate for. Now, it’s pretty easy to guess where they are when our toddler is running rampant.
