If leading paint brands like Benjamin Moore, Behr, and Little Greene have anything to do with it, we’ll be drenching our homes in rich shades of blue-green, maroon, and espresso in 2026. But IKEA wants us to go in a slightly different direction. For the second year in a row, the Swedish retailer has made a color prediction, and going into next year it wants to lighten the mood with a hue it’s calling Rebel Pink.
“We wanted to bring something that felt like a joyful rebellion for your home, because I think people need that right now,” shares Abbey Stark, IKEA’s home furnishing design leader. Like many brands that dive into forecasting at this time of year, Stark and the IKEA team analyzed fashion, culture, and other areas of design when making their choice, but one thing they did differently was look to the company’s upcoming catalog.
Just today, IKEA launched a furry pink kids’ chair as a part of its new 33-piece GREJSIMOJS collection. Also in the works, according to Stark, is a bold floral sofa cover that mixes the playful shade with a brown-ish mustard tone, along with Rebel Pink bedding, pillow covers, and outdoor lighting. “There’s this nostalgic, vintage feeling coming into homes. We’re going back into the ’80s,” she says. On January 1, IKEA will drop a collab with colorist Tekla Evelina Severin that applies Rebel Pink to chic speaker lamps. “It’s a really good pairing pink,” notes Stark, “it works well with reds and burnt orange; I am loving it with pistachio and deep mahogany.”
As we patiently await what pink goodness IKEA has in store for us next year, we’re browsing all the Rebel Pink items it already has in stock, including one of Stark’s favorites: the recently released Strala lamp by Gustaf Westman.
