This is “In Our Carts,” a monthly series in which I’ll round up my and other editors’ favorite product launches. They’re taken straight from our #editors-picks Slack channel, where our team drops the many press releases that fill our inboxes. I sort through them for the best of the best. That way, you can read just about the good stuff—nothing more and nothing less.
Tekla Introduced a Winter Terry Collection
When Tekla drops a new collection, we’re always ready to scoop it up. The brand’s latest is a winter terry line that’s inspired by cold-weather bathing cultures and made from extra-thick organic cotton. Towels and bathmats adorned in colors like Bruin, Stone, and Sea Glass evoke the otherworldly visual campaign, shot in the Hebrides Islands in Scotland.
Material Kitchen Restocked Its Resting Stone
Thank you to Material Kitchen for finally restocking one of our favorite kitchen items: the Resting Stone. Now available in a seasonally-appropriate color combination of Cocoa and Kiss, the set of two is hand-crafted from fire-polished glass. While we like the idea of using them conventionally to spot your wooden spoon, we really like how the brand styles them as a place to put lemon wedges, salt, and even jewelry.
Symbol Made Seriously Sexy Sofas
Symbol came onto our radar when they debuted a record-angled collaboration with USM last year—it was so stunning (and smart) that we gave it a Good Design Award. Now, the Nyack, New York-based brand has started to branch out of their musically-inclined furnishings to introduce living room and office pieces, including incredibly chic sofas and loveseats. We’re partial to the Rollins, perfectly appointed for getting lost in a psychedelic B-side, and the ultra soft Jelly Roll that is available with matching spherical pillows.
Toast Launched A Splattered Enamel Pendant
We peruse Toast’s new home arrivals periodically, and this enamel pendant stopped us in our tracks. We’ve noticed other brands launching pendants in the material, but this splattered, porcelain-infused shade would bring so much character to a kitchen. It’s basically unbreakable, and takes LED bulbs.
Herman Miller Reintroduced an Alexander Girard-Designed Table
Alexander Girard originally designed his Flower Table as the centerpiece of the conversation pit at the Miller House in Columbus, Indiana. On January 27, Herman Miller relaunched the table in two sizes, as well as black and red colorways. We could see the larger version standing alone, but you could cluster the smaller option with it for a layered look. The scallops look properly contemporary without feeling trendy, and the base is light and airy. Plus, it’s crafted from powder-coated steel, so you can use it inside and outdoors.
Coyuchi Debuted Washable Wool—and a New Mattress
Sustainable bedding stalwart Coyuchi has been busy recently. Here’s the rundown: the brand launched its first-ever mattress in January, which is made to order in the U.S. and crafted from organic cotton, wool, and Dunlop latex. That’s all supported by a precision-engineered coil system, and there’s no need for a boxspring. (At $2,000 for a queen, it’s more affordable than a full-priced Saatva Classic.) Coyuchi and Nativa also brought a first-ever machine-washable, regeneratively sourced wool bedding collection to market. That means fully traceable, ultra-soft wool paired with ethical sourcing and relaxed style. We’re impressed, to say the least.
Little Greene Designed Whimsical, Vintage-Inspired Wallpaper
Little Greene, a British paint and wall coverings purveyor, regularly collaborates with the National Trust on designs inspired by their archival material. This round of wallpaper, entitled Storybook Papers, brings to life such motifs as 1950s cars; unpublished sketchbook drawings from children’s book author Beatrix Potter; surface-printed Animal Kingdom scenery; and bold, broad stripes in new color combinations. While any of them would look right at home in a nursery, there are all kinds of ways to use them beyond the nursery—think mudrooms, powder rooms, and even entryways.
Our Place Enlarged Its Wonder Oven
Our Place’s Original Wonder Oven sold out in just eight days. But even with that extremely warm reception, the brand received hundreds of requests for a larger-sized countertop appliance. That new version has finally arrived, and with it comes double the capacity of a standard air fryer; a new baker’s kit; and four different color options. Who’s coming over for a roasted chicken dinner?
A Vida Portuguesa Popped Up at MoMA Design Store
Find us popping in and out of MoMA Design Store regularly through March 10. Until then, Lisbon-based store A Vida Portuguesa, founded nearly 20 years ago by journalist Catarina Portas, has set up shop at the museum—but you don’t even need to come to New York to pick up the collection. Ceramic cabbage bowls, regionally-made blankets, and gourmet food are all available online, too.
