Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent Pick Favorites From Their New Furniture Collection
The designers’ latest pieces with Living Spaces launch today.

The guiding principle for Nate Berkus and Jeremiah Brent’s new furniture collection for national retailer Living Spaces wasn’t a certain color or aesthetic—it was compatibility. The duo’s pieces cover all the bases, using multiple styles—from contemporary metal dining chairs to bohemian rattan side tables—to apply to every kind of home. And plenty of them are inset with USB ports to charge a phone.
“There are three groups,” Berkus says of the new line, which launched today. “Some inspiration came by way of the French ironworks of the 1930s and ’40s. Some pieces are inspired by mid-century French and Italian and Swedish looks. Others are taken from plaster, painted furniture, and architectural elements like paneling and molding.
One of the things we try and incorporate always is flexibility,” explains Brent. “It’s how we’ve been designing for each piece here. It’s important that whatever is in the collection blends into how people are living in their homes.” As more than 50 new furniture pieces and an assortment of pillows and rugs hit the Living Spaces site, Domino caught up with the designers to find out the couple’s top picks.
Berkus’s Favorite: The Beckett Sofa
For Berkus, creating a couch that could adapt to the widest range of living rooms was crucial. The Beckett became an early favorite for its goes-with-anything shade, linear tuxedo shape, and durable wood frame. “We always advise buying a solid sofa in a standard hue, and then styling it with colors and pillows, which add extra style and personality,” he says. “It works in a modern interior, and it works in a vintage setting or against brown and English settings.”
Brent’s Favorite: The Blakely Chair
“Consumers are looking around resale sites now and seeing things from Sweden and Denmark from the ’50s and ’60s, but can’t find them at a price they can afford,” says Brent “This design keeps the Scandi-chic, elevated feeling while still being cozy. It’s mid-century but a little softer to work into existing rooms.”
In Berkus and Brent’s household, the Blakely ties a reading nook together with its slightly reclined posture and makes for a snug (and stain-resistant!) spot for the couple’s two young children to curl up with the family. The chair also offers a great perch from which to cheer their parents on in Rock the Block’s second season on HGTV.
