Bed Threads founder Genevieve Rosen-Biller takes us inside the homes of Australia’s top designers and creatives.

Walking through Kerrie-Ann Jones’s home feels like you’ve stepped into the pages of a glossy interior design magazine. And that’s not surprising, given her experience. The former editor now works as a photographic interior stylist and creative director, but there’s no doubt that her home is her best work yet.

The house starts with a minimal, neutral base—polished concrete floors and fresh white walls—which provides a backdrop for layers of thoughtful styling. Every surface is carefully arranged: A heavy crystal tureen here, a sculptural AYTM lamp there, and an enviable gallery wall featuring art by Inès Longevial are just a few of moments that make you want to pause and stay awhile. Come on in.

How did you know this was the space for you?

Terrace homes are known to be dark, but our house has a large glass ceiling above the staircase in the middle of the house that allows light to flood through all day long. I just felt a connection to it and could instantly imagine how we would live here.

Did you renovate or make any structural changes?

We lived in the home for a few years before undertaking a significant renovation. We added a third floor, new bathrooms, a kitchen, and steel frame windows.

How did you approach the decorating process?

Although I use a lot of color in my styling work, I wanted to come home to a space that was neutral and simple. I’m inspired by many styles—classic, industrial, and Scandinavian are a few favorites—so I tried to blend those together in a cohesive way. I chose oak floors throughout, black steel frame doors, and marble herringbone tiles in the bathrooms.

What are your top tips for a well-styled bedroom?

Hone in on a color palette you love and that will help guide any other choice in your home. Bed linen is an excellent place to experiment with shades because you can mix and match your pillowcases, sheets, and duvet cover. It adds color to the room but not in a permanent way, so if you want to change it up, it’s easy to do so. Also, invest in good lighting. You can really elevate a space with a beautiful bedside lamp or pendant light.

What is your favorite piece?

My Inès Longevial artwork. I’ve been a fan for a few years, so it was exciting to own a piece from a recent exhibition she had in San Francisco. I’m also proud of my bargain find: our vintage travertine coffee table. It was such a score!
