All too often, we get caught up in the pressure of making the holidays perfect. Whether it’s your dinner party menu or party dress, there’s always something. We forget to take a moment to sit back, relax, and enjoy all the good that comes with this cozy, family-filled time of year. With Thanksgiving still top-of-mind, we’re choosing to focus on appreciating everything around us, instead of on the little things. This holiday season especially, we’re feeling extra grateful for our homes and embracing all that they give to us.

Inspired by Anissa Zajac of @housesevendesign‘s Instagram takeover from this past weekend, here are three ways we’re making the most of our homes this December.

Time to get cozy by the fire

When your social calendar is feeling a bit overwhelming (thanks to lots of festive fetes), there’s nothing better than relishing the days you can stay home and cuddle up by the warm fire. Add a glass of wine or hot cocoa, a book, and you’ve got yourself the perfect setting to count your blessings this season.

The kitchen isn’t just for cooking 

Whether you consider yourself a chef or not, somehow the best memories seem to be made in the kitchen. Gathering around the kitchen island to nibble on some pre-meal snacks or enlisting the help of your family and friends to get in on the cooking action are great ways to really make your kitchen the heart of your home. We love the rustic look of Anissa’s kitchen with it’s black and white accents and light wood floors.

Make time for “me” time 

Instead of letting yourself get swept up in the season, allot some time to indulge—you deserve it! Try turning off your notifications and turning on your favorite playlist while enjoying a hot bath. Add some bath salts for an extra luxe feel and just breathe. You’re officially ready to take on the holidays.
