Whenever someone reveals their home’s signature scent, we’re all ears (noses?). It feels like being let in on a secret to get the inside scoop on fancy incense, budget-friendly buys, or covetable candles. So when Sarah Sherman Samuel dropped her bed and bath collection with Lulu and Georgia earlier this month, we couldn’t help but inquire what the Michigan-based interior designer uses to perfume her own home.

She let us in on her staple hand soap in the bathroom and the handsome objet that doubles as a diffuser in her bedroom.

You might know Byredo from its squat, black-topped perfume bottles and ethereal names like Mojave Ghost and Gypsy Water. The 20-year-old Swedish brand is on all the cool kids’s shelves thanks to seductive blends that skew genderless. It’s no wonder that Samuel has stocked her sinkside with the Suede hand wash—the refreshing, floral scent has notes of bergamot, violet, and amber and comes in recyclable, refillable packaging.

In Her Bedroom: M.Fisher Demeter Diffuser

Samuel divulged that she doesn’t use a candle, incense, or even a room spray in her bedroom—but a sculptural diffuser from New York-based designer Matthew Fisher. Each set includes a stone sculpture, cast tray, and perfume oil—just drip the oil onto the stone to diffuse a scent into the air. The Demeter fragrance is woodsy to the core, with cedar, sandalwood, and firr mingling alongside mandarin and pomegranate.
