To whoever needs to hear this: we’re officially more than halfway through winter. While a high of 35 degrees Fahrenheit is currently considered warm by New Yorkers (and likely a large swath of the country), not to fear—sunnier, longer, and, apparently, shoppier days are ahead. If you’ve been too busy shoveling snow to browse online, I invite you to peruse our edit of the latest and greatest spring home drops. We noticed a few trends among the new releases. There’s a streak of British-chic aesthetics, like Matilda Goad’s cheeky polka dotted lighting, MoMA’s exclusive Sophie Lou Jacobsen glassware, and CB2’s flared-arm, slipcovered sofa design. That whimsy is countered by graphic geometry we’re particularly seeing across rugs, like Layered’s energizing graphic takes, Lulu and Georgia’s linear outdoor floor coverings, and Nordic Knots’ collab with Studio Mellone. Below are a few items I’m eyeing for a spring pick-me-up—because we all deserve a present for making it through this brutal season.
West Elm Brooks Flush Mount
Anyone who’s hunted for a good flushmount knows they’re not easy to come by, especially not at an affordable price point. Whipstitching always catches my eye, which is why I’ve noticed West Elm’s Brooks lighting collection in the past (like this perfect table lamp). The 16-inch flushmount is the latest member of the family.
Layered Gio Collection
I pretty much love anything inspired by Gio Ponti, and Layered’s new rugs are reminiscent of the Italian architect’s iconic tiles. The collection includes three graphic styles, each refreshingly not neutral. I consider these the perfect starting point to design a room around.
MG&Co. Polka Dot Lighting
Matilda Goad has done it again. First I was struck by the British brand’s new fish-shaped hardware, and now the playful polka dot glass lighting has stolen my heart. There’s a flush mount and a pendant in two sizes.
Sophie Lou Jacobsen Continental Tea Set
When Sophie Lou Jacobsen and MoMA put their heads together, you know it’s going to be good. The museum design store splashed an exclusive color on her Continental Tea Collection, which brings an extra dose of whimsy to the swirly handles and romantic curves. If I don’t get this for myself, it will certainly be my go-to gift.
Lulu & Georgia Kirst Indoor-Outdoor Rug
You know spring is upon us when the outdoor rugs start rolling out (pun intended). I’ll never tire of this tile-like pattern, and imagine how well the green will pair with the soon-to-be-emerging leaves on the trees?
IKEA JÄTTEBO Modular Loveseat
Not all IKEA sofas are created equally, and the JÄTTEBO line is clearly top tier. The boxy frame is reminiscent of Danish darling Hay but for a fraction of the price. Plus, the corduroy option feel really fresh. I wouldn’t be surprised if this collection sells out.
Joon Loloi Viggo Accent Chair
In the market for an accent chair that doesn’t cost and arm and a leg? This Joon Loloi pick might be just the one. The oak frame and boucle upholstery is versatile enough to work in nearly any interior, whether dressed up with a pillow or on its own.
CB2 Bristol Slipcovered Sofa
This sofa shape speaks to me on a deep level. The slight flare of the arms, the bench style cushion, the modest depth—it’s doing everything right. As if I needed another reason to love it, it’s assembled in North Carolina with wood certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Sundays Glimpse Cabinet
This might look like your average storage cabinet at first glance, but poke around more and you’ll notice the glass top. You can see straight into the first shelf—hence the name Glimpse Cabinet. I’d style that with an ever changing stack of art books.
Anthropologie Cotton Printed Sofa Topper
Calling all pet parents: we found the cutest sofa topper of all time. Why sacrifice your style with a blanket draped over the sofa when you could use this tailored cushion? It’s conveniently offered in two sizes.
Nordic Knots x Studio Mellone Normandie Rug
The four-piece rug collection from Nordic Knots and Studio Mellone takes inspiration from such disparate sources as Art Deco, Bauhaus, and South American modernism. The natural, yet vibrant tones like ochre, terracotta, and olive are like the warmth incarnate—something we all need in spades right now.
