Most people know Kate Moss for her effortless personal style, but lately we’ve learned that her timeless taste in design extends beyond what’s in her closet. The famous model has a knack for picking cool houses, too. Long before she got to work on her current home, cladding her entire primary bathroom in pink (!) marble, Moss lived in this Victorian house in London’s St. John’s Wood neighborhood for a solid decade. She bought the property back in 2002 for around $2.2 million and sold it to its current owners in 2012. Now, the mid-19th-century, stucco-clad home is for sale again for $7.9 million, listed by Marc Schneiderman from Arlington Residential

With winter slowly creeping up on us, we were immediately drawn to the home’s sunny backyard—specifcally, the patio, which is uniquely positioned below the grass level. The sunken set-up is a recipe for cozy outdoor entertaining and, not to mention, privacy. According to Mansion Global, the latest homeowners made a key update to the house during their time there: they added a kitchen and entertaining area on this level so that when the accordion doors are open it flows directly out into the courtyard. There’s no need for fussy string lights. Thanks to the tall glass doors, plenty of light from the kitchen can reach the patio once the sun begins to set.

The indoor-outdoor vibes continue one floor up where a formal living room extends onto a smaller terrace. While the 4,740-square-foot house has largely been updated over the years, period features like the parquet flooring and plenty of fireplaces help preserve its Old World charm.
