An easy way to score future heirlooms at IKEA is by shopping the company’s limited-edition collections. Remember when Rotterdam-based designer Sabine Marcelis created 20 otherworldly light fixtures for the Swedish retailer? Or when Dutch design studio Raw Color delivered a prismatic collection that ranged from rolling carts to carafes? It’s OK if you don’t: The products flew off the shelves so fast that many shoppers were bound to miss out. That’s why we’re big fans of the Mävinn collection, which has been tapping artisans in Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Jordan and Thailand for the past three years. While the pieces in the assortment don’t stick around for very long, the company is constantly replenishing it with new items that also put renewable and biodegradable materials first. The latest iteration includes 18 (!) new handcrafted items. Here are a few of our favorites.
The Rug
The textiles continue to be the star of Mävinn. This jute rug comes in just one size (5’7” x 7’10”) but its graphic stripes and bold colors promise endless fun in a mudroom or nursery.
The Runner
The number one quality we look for in a kitchen runner is how easy it is to vacuum. This flatwoven pick will wear well and bring some spice to a space with all-white cabinets.
The Throw
Level up your BBQ game by having a basket of throws on deck to hand out to guests when the sun sets and the fire pit comes on.
The Basket
Kids toys and crafts might be an obvious choice for this storage solution but we also love the idea of using it to hold lemons and bananas on the kitchen counter.
The Pendant Shade
Hand-braided from banana fibers by Ramesh Flowers, a business in India that creates jobs close to home for women in rural areas, this lampshade is giving the popular Sinnerlig pendant a run for its money.
The Pillow Cover
Stripes, colorblocking, embroidery, a hidden zipper—this cushion cover has all the makings of a throw pillow you’ll want around forever. Did we mention it’s machine washable?
The Plate
This plate’s raised scalloped edges make it look more expensive than $15. Go ahead and complete your table setting with the matching vase—that piece is only $35.
