I’m Replacing My Boring Starter Wine Glasses With These $3 IKEA Goblets

It’s embarrassing to admit, but the same set of starter IKEA wine glasses—if you’re a recent college grad, you know the one—have been living in my dining room cabinet since my husband and I first moved in together. That was six years, a marriage, and a baby ago. We’ve been more than ready for an upgrade—at least from a style perspective. Turns out, our budget, nor the retailer, needed to change, because I discovered that IKEA recently quietly released a new $3 goblet. Six of them add up to a dollar less than our first purchase, but what we’re getting is infinitely more stylish. Eight are on their way to me as I write this.

The squat, hefty shape is what sold me. It’s less finicky, less fragile—the goblets are dishwasher-safe!—and less specific. Water, juice, wine, bubbly, and even beer wouldn’t be out of place in them. There’s also still some semblance of a stem, so your hand won’t warm your drink faster than you’d like. Plus, the style evokes a warm, leisurely night at a bistro, even if I currently have a toddler climbing all over me. And let me tell you, that alone is worth way more than I paid for.
