The summer season has historically stolen headlines when it comes to using PTO. But a recent study by Airbnb shows deviation from the trend for Gen Z travelers: They’re saving up their out-of-office dates for fall 2025 getaways. The booking platform found that searches were up 26 percent for autumn reservations, with significant spikes for Vermont (hello, fall foliage). Paris is another favorite for this age group of globetrotters, and coastal destinations are having a moment (Naha, Japan; Ipojuca, Brazil; and Ericeira, Portugal, to name a few).
We’re with Gen Z: Shoulder season is a great time to get out of town—the dark, long days of winter are coming quickly, and a change of scenery can be a breath of fresh air before the holidays. In case you’re looking for some inspiration, Airbnb shared a list of the top 10 spots Gen Z has their eyes on this fall:
- Paris, France
- Osaka, Japan
- Dubai, United Arab Emirates
- Miami, FL, United States
- Porto, Portugal
- Cartagena, Colombia
- London, United Kingdom
- Munich, Germany
- Mexico City, Mexico
- Santiago, Chile
All of these cities have something in common, at least when it comes to planning a trip during this time of year: affordable luxury. Whether it’s a budget-friendly Airbnb Experience or an off-season deal on an incredible hotel or house rental, savvy travelers are making the most of their dollars and taking longer—and longer-haul—trips. We did some digging and found next-level stays in each of those spots (hint, hint).
