New puppy, new problems. Just ask Nate Berkus. In a recent Instagram post, the designer shared the one under-$100 gadget that’s made life with a four-legged roommate a whole lot cleaner.
“This has changed my life,” Berkus says, holding up the Bissell Little Green Mini, a compact carpet and upholstery cleaner. “I might love this machine as much as I love the puppy—sometimes more, actually.”
Known for his ultra-refined interiors, Berkus is also a self-described Virgo who confesses, “I hate dirt, I hate disorganization.” So when a mysterious wet spot appears on the carpet (“I’m suspecting the dog, but I could be wrong,” he says), he needs a fix that doesn’t involve calling in professional cleaners.
The machine uses powerful suction and a spray of cleaning solution to lift stains and odors from fabric and carpet fibers.“You put water on one side and a little bit of cleaning solution, and then the dirty water goes on the other side,” he explains. “Works on furniture!” With a quick flick of the wrist, he lifts a stain, then pours the murky water down the sink. Holding up the machine like a ghoul-capturing proton pack, he says: “This is my version of Ghostbusters.”
Judging by the comments on Berkus’s post, he’s not the only fan. Followers chimed in calling it a “magic maker” and a “game changer” for pet owners. Plus, Domino editors swear by this little guy to keep sofas, rugs, and dining chairs looking spotless—especially in homes with kids, pets, or both. It tucks easily into a closet, but when things get messy, it’s the first thing we reach for.
Berkus asks in his caption: “Is there such a thing as an emotional support Little Green Mini?” Around here, we’d answer with a resounding yes.
