Hi! I am Vanessa Matsalla, owner and interior designer of @studiomatsallabased out of South Oceanside. I love what I do because it allows me to positively and directly impact the lives of others, creating beautiful and inspiring surroundings for my lovely clients and their families!

One of my favorite stops in South Oceanside for picking up a quick gift is a local creative co-op space featuring @5inggoods @raiscase and @mrbsnecessities. They have a beautiful selection of artisan goods with a hip, minimalist vibe. I especially love their handmade candles, bohemian purses and wooden planters that are so carefully created and curated in this beautiful space.

When our design team is hungry and we need a break, we almost always head to @cafetopes in Carlsbad for brunch for our fix of artisan french toast, omelettes and their famous cinnamon rolls. Their decor is equally as intoxicating as their food.

@solocedros is one my favorite resources for finding unique decor and design books for both me and my clients. The large loft-style building showcases the collections of eight creative women. Each time I visit, I find something new and interesting.

When the weekend rolls around, @boozebros is our go-to craft brewery in Vista. They often have live music and a rotating food truck brought in to make one for one perfect evening.

@groundedmodern is a favorite spot in Encinitas for mid-century finds and inspiring pops of color in every corner. Their lighting selection is drool-worthy. Trust that you won’t leave without some type of new goodie for your home.

The Meditation gardens are known as a local escape, nestled within the small surf-town in Leucadia. You’re free to waltz this donation-only secret garden, adorned by hidden coy ponds and never-ending foliage. You can find a hidden bench to relax on while you take in breathtaking views of the ocean.

The ultimate succulent nursery and beyond. I frequent @succulentcafeoceanside in Oceanside for work and play. There are tables full of neon pink succulents, wildly weird cacti and a sea of colorful plants that catch your eye in every direction. My husband and I grab a cup of coffee and walk through on the weekends just for fun.
