With London’s annual Royal Horticultural Society’s horticultural event in Chelsea, The Chelsea Flower Show opening next week, London’s most Instagrammable Michelin-starred restaurant Sketch is following suit with its own event, The Mayfair Flower Shop, opening today. The second annual exhibition in the Mayfair neighborhood spans across Sketch’s distinctive dining spaces and the installations feature over-the-top displays that will wow even the most well-versed horticulturist.
For the occasion, Sketch commissioned five local florists— Tony Marklew, Carly Rogers, Rebel Rebel, Figa & Co. and JamJar Flowers—to take over different areas of the space and transform the venue. The designers were tasked with exploring their relationship with Mayfair, Conduit Street, and Sketch, while presenting their craft and adoration for the British flora. Marklew’s “Garden of Grey and Roses” (above) greets guests in reception, while JarJar Flowers turned the entrance hallway (lead image) into a flower-filled tunnel.
The east bar and pods are now home to a giant hare made out of plants by Figa & Co.
The whimsical work is called “Delphinium Fantasy.”
An ombre of blue flowers leads guests up to the hare.
Carly Rogers Flowers created “The Land of Nod” on the facade of the building (above), and the lecture room and library host a “museum of flora curiosities” (below) created by Rebel Rebel. The installations will be up through May 29.
