Mushroom-shaped lamps have been popular since the 1960s, but the fungi’s recent resurgence is a bit more literal: The vegetable has been sprouting up everywhere in the design world lately, from John Derian plates and art to graphic cheese boards and bedding.

We knew something was up this summer when Hannah Bronfman chose solar-powered mushroom lights as a way to brighten her backyard. Then last week we spotted umbrella-like ones growing at Glossier’s brand-new Seattle store as part of an art installation. And a quick scan of the housewares at Urban Outfitters right now proves our theory to be true: Mushrooms are an of-the-moment trend.
