From Amazon to MUJI, a number of major players in the consumer industry have been getting in on the tiny home action. And who can blame them? Functional, sustainable, and often portable, tiny houses make life simpler by helping you stick to the essentials. Plus, they’re also really fun to decorate.
One surprising newcomer to the container home game? Garnet Hill. In partnership with the online estate sale company Everything But The House, the fashion brand is auctioning off an upcycled container home.
And the best part? It’s for charity. According to House Beautiful, Garnet Hill had originally converted the steel shipping container to function as a mobile boutique. But now, the cleverly designed home is for sale to benefit Habitat for Humanity’s Global Impact Fund, which focuses on disaster prevention and response. The bidding for the house started at just $1 on October 12, and will go on through October 21, 2017.

While we’re sorry to say that the bidding has since surpassed the original $1 offer, the custom-made home still remains a total steal at $26,000. Below, peek inside the feel-good container home that has us seriously considering downsizing.
Designed by ModEco founder and HGTV personality Drake Boroja, the container home champions flexibility and stylish small space living. Inside the 350-square-foot abode, new buyers will discover ample storage space, charming rustic finishes, and plenty of room for entertaining.
The home’s kitchenette includes a spacious breakfast bar, reclaimed board surfacing, white quartz countertops, and all your cooking and cleaning necessities, from a microwave to a dishwasher.
Just off the kitchen sits a fully-equipped half bathroom.
