Sarasota’s diverse architecture, bougainvillea drenched streets, and sandy sidewalks are the perfect niche for my creative eye and career aspirations. The gulf coast inspires me with each sunrise and sunset. As a full time art director and brand stylist I am constantly searching for the most unique, relaxing, and beautifully designed spaces to feature in print and my personal instagram! Umbrella House
I can’t remember a time I wasn’t enamored with all things mid mod. This love led me to the charming neighborhood of Lido Shores where you can experience The “Umbrella House” designed by Paul Rudolph. This 1950’s time capsule is the centerpiece of Sarasota’s school of mid century modern architecture. You will not regret touring this masterpiece, or, better yet, planning a entire mod weekend with @sarasotamod to celebrate the legacy of Paul Rudolph. Yes, it’s just that special!
Social Eatery & Bar
Put on your finest duds and cozy up to this indoor/ outdoor, fashionable-but-relaxed eatery @social.eatery.and.bar. I’ll have a mule please…actually make that two! This place always has me coming back for more and is the perfect celebration location for birthdays or new friends visiting from out of town. Not only is the #selfie lighting great, but the#shelfie opportunities are epic as well, with open wood walls of colorful potted plants. Yes, please!
The Sarasota Succulent Society
Since we are officially buds, I’m going to let you in on a secret. A succulent secret. A perfect Saturday morning in Sarasota would be spent ducking, spinning, and whirling about this magical succulent land, wishing you’d get mysteriously left behind. It’s a dream location for my job as a art director, and it’s so quiet and peaceful you can hear a dew drop. Secret’s out! See you there.
Sarasota Trading Co.
On Palm Avenue, you’ll find cute fashion boutiques like @treatsrq, vintage furniture shops, quaint French bistros, and this jem…Sarasota Trading Co. If you want to turn your home into an elegant retreat, this is your spot. The store is piled high with art, Florida memorabilia, and estate collectables. When I’m not pulling props for shoots, I am styling the tabletops for the storeowners. They love to see what I pull together. Frankly, it’s a designer’s superstore.
Lido Beach House
If you don’t live in the #gulfcoast, the first and only @airbnb you should check out is the Lido Beach house. A mid- century boutique guesthouse located on Lido Key, Sarasota Fl, the owners- Jenny and Dale – spare no attention to detail when it comes to design- and the cool factor. Their recent kitchen remodel left me checking my calendar to see if I might be due for a “staycation.” Follow Jenny @jenpenpics and drool over this couple’s creative collabs @woodstreetstudio.
The Ringling
Indulge your senses by enjoying a day at@theRingling. The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art is the state art museum of Florida, located in Sarasota, Florida. The rose quartz arches are certainly inspiring home trend colors this year. You will experience the most delicate smell of roses dancing from Mable’s Rose Garden and the Venetian mansion on the bay will have you posing for group pics in no time. There is so much to enjoy here, you will just have to take my word for it. You may even witness @ringlingcollge art students doing plein air painting on the grounds. Magic!

Do you love cool chicks? Do you love chicks that have an amazing eye for store design? Then you’ve uncovered your new fav hangout on main street Sarasota. I can’t say enough about this urban boutique salon. These insanely talented humans have a knack for nailing every hair trend to perfection. They rep killer brands @randcohair and @capribluecandles. This joint will have you opening your Instagram to tag @apartment12hairstudio while you’re still under the dryer.
Indian Beach
I just like the name of this place. It suits me. A neighborhood located on the edge of the gulf and steps from my alma mater@ringlingcollege, this charming hood is a favorite for locals who love lush backyards filled with bromeliads and homes with brightly painted accents. You’ll definitely find bungalows with tee pees to million dollar moderns all on the same block. This location also packs the best sunsets over Longboat Key.
SAS Mercantile
This retail salvage space is a Sarasota staple for me. Everyone loves this place. The staff is always trying to make all your design dreams come true. Whether I’m trying to create a interesting set for fashion models at @beallsflordia or sourcing tables to style floral beach picnics with @victoriabloomssrq, this is a must for all of Sarasota creatives. Even better, plan a shoot at their location….@srqacrhitectualsalvage will be so down!
Lotus Boutique
I couldn’t let you leave Sarasota without defining your personal style at @thelotuslifestyle. This contemporary clothing boutique has warm hardwoods, reclaimed wood dressing rooms and custom salvage light fixtures. To warm up your mind, body, and soul, try A @Lauramoshi bleached out tee. A @rails_LA plaid button up with @citzensofhumanity denim cut offs will certainly make the most effortless coastal statement. Or if you’re looking to jog Lido Beach, Lotus Active, in downtown Sarasota, will redefine your idea of easy breezy active lifestyle. Two Thumbs way up!
#cozyshadelane
A little over a year ago I purchased this charming 815 sq ft bungalow in downtown Sarasota. #cozyshadlaneneeded some basic remodeling before it could become the coziest space to call home. One hard-to-miss upgrade is the black and white cheetah print accent wall. With the help from @royalstencils, this design element has become the go to backdrop for friends. Check out#lovescozy. Every day this space inspires me to style, imagine, and change. In a lot of ways, COZY has become a photo studio and functioning living space combined. #Cozyshadelaneis a bright, modern, tropical example of loving where you live!
