Meet KATIE KEYWORTH the creative force behind Katie Craig Art, and Minted + domino’s featured monthly artist!
A MONTHLY GLIMPSE INSIDE THE HOMES AND STUDIOS OF MINTED’S ARTISTS. By Anna Kocharian
Growing up in sunny California, Katie Keyworth’s main source of artistic inspiration stemmed from the beauty of the surrounding outdoors. While nature played an integral role in her developing aesthetic, Keyworth’s pursuit for a more formal form of education, led her to complete a degree in Fine Arts from Pepperdine University. Following graduation, she made an unsolicited move to Dallas, where a close friend had recently enrolled into medical school. She began working at an architectural firm, and experimented with painting on the side. It quickly took up a life of its own, after which Keyworth finally decided to pursue her dreams full time!
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?
My style is classically modern with a twist. I embody minimalism but I love vintage details and color.
WHERE DO YOU FEEL MOST INSPIRED?
I’m most inspired by nature. A lot of my paintings are abstract with a movement that emulates the spirit of the elements found in the outdoors.
WHAT MAKES A HOME BEAUTIFUL?
Functionality coupled with personal touches. I love having special pieces around the house, which remind me of my family. And animals! They provide a home with such life and love.
WHAT’S YOUR MOST PRIZED POSSESSION?
My great grandfather’s watercolor set. He’s the one who’s inspired my creativity and passion for painting.
ON WHAT ITEMS DO YOU SCRIMP?
My clothes! I usually end up having paint stains on them, so I tend to stick to the basics. You can typically find me in blue jeans and a simple top.
ON WHAT DO YOU SPLURGE?
One-of-a-kind items and any sort of statement piece! I won’t hesitate on investing in a lovely piece of art or something that will make my home all the more better.
