In 2018, we saw all our friends and Instagram follows end up in cities like Lisbon and Tokyo, but 2019 promises a fresh set of spots that are guaranteed to be abuzz in the new year. Airbnb recently released its list of the top 19 travel locales for 2019—and its rife with many, many dream destinations.

According to booking data, the home-sharing company pointed to an increase in popularity for several coastal destinations, like Pondicherry, India; Xiamen, China; and Buenos Aires, Argentina. There’s also been increased interest in cabin-filled spaces, like the Catskills and the Great Smoky Mountains. Not to mention, vivid cities like Accra, Ghana, and Batumi, Georgia, are luring more and more travelers, thanks to their dynamic architecture and thrilling nightlife.

A few countries, in particular, are also set to make a major impact among travelers in 2019: Mozambique, Uzbekistan, and Taiwan all received a nod, each gaining a 100 percent or more increase in wish list placement among Airbnb users.

The top destination, according to both wish lists and bookings? Kaikoura, New Zealand—a seaside town with an abundance of whale-watching, surfing, and hiking opportunities amid a proliferation of stunning flora and fauna. If anything’s clear, it’s certainly going to be a year full of adventure.
