Hola, friends! I am
, aka @houseandhost and I’ll be sharing some of my favorite spaces and places in sunny #miami!
Digital marketing director @spg by day, interior designer by night (and now a design student at @nyiad), I am a Midwest farmtown-girl-turned-city-girl now living in south Florida by way of Chicago. I’m a wife, a mom to sweet Zoey, dinner party addict, global traveler and blogger. Let’s get this party started, shall we? #locallyinspired #miami #sobe #designdistrict #miamibeach
The design of this restaurant had me at hello. The food had me never wanting to say goodbye. Gallery walls. Oysters. Impeccable wines. Fresh seafood. Local Miami art and photography. Focaccia bread. Need I say more?
@thedutchmiami, located at @wsouthbeach hotel, is a design lovers restaurant heaven. Tip: go to the hotel bar before dinner and order the jalapeño passion cocktail. @houseandhost #yesplease #soberestaurants #locallyinspired
Now that we’ve become friends, I have a secret to share. There are only three places in the world you can get @maisonladuree macarons. Miami is one of them. On Lincoln road. Teeny tiny most beautiful French macaron house in all the land. Dozens of flavors. Somebody help me. And seriously, don’t tag your friends in this post to let them know. @houseandhost #locallyinspired #macarons #laduree
No question, @miamidesigndistrict is an absolute must when visiting Miami. And let’s just say spending some time at @ICAMiami will leave you feeling all design-y and Miami-ish and wanting to redecorate your house in all things modern. @houseandhost #fairwarning #locallyinspired #miamidesigndistrict
Speaking of the design district, enter @thebazaarproject, a carefully curated selection of local and global home goods that will make your heart skip a beat. Turkish rugs and towels. Gold deliciousness. Vintage servingware. This store is, no question, my favorite store in Miami and possibly the U. S. of A. (seriously). @houseandhost #miamihomeboutique #miamidecor #designdistrict #locallyinspired
No trip to Miami is complete without a dinner at @mandolinmiami! Family owned (featuring recipes from their grandmother), simple and fresh Turkish and Greek ingredients and an ambiance akin to a garden in Santorini. Get the Turkish sampler, the chicken kebabs and a bottle of rose. I promise your heart – and stomach – will be full and happy. @houseandhost #miamirestaurants #locallyinspired #mandolinmiami
One of my favorite things to do when I head over to the beach is to leisurely stroll on Lincoln Road, do a little shopping and head to @booksandbooks for lunch and book browsing. There is just something about a brick and mortar book store, isn’t there? @houseandhost #locallyinspired #booksandbooks #miamirestaurants
For all you coffee lovers out there, Miami has something special you are going to want to pay attention to: @panthercoffee. Husband and wife owned, they roast all of their coffee at their Wynwood location and I have never been so impressed with coffee before! It’s basically like a Napa Valley wine tasting experience but for coffee. I met the owner, Joel, when I was there and he’s superb. AND he let me in on a little secret. Their walls are made from reclaimed wood from his parents farmhouse in Michigan and the countertops are Ikea. @houseandhost #loveit #locallyinspired #panthercoffee #wynwood
When my husband and I moved to Miami, we lived at the @wsouthbeach hotel for 5 months and it will forever hold a place in my heart! And this seating area in the living room (the W hotel brand lingo for lobby) is just, well, stunning. The rest of the living room is made up of earthy tones and textures, with an open and airy feel…and then this. The designer, Anna Busta, told me she created this area as her signature unexpected space as part of the broader design. The hotel itself is truly one of the best designed hotels in North America! You all would love it! @houseandhost #sobehotels #whotels #wsobe #designerhotels #miamihotels
Who knew a neighborhood could literally be transformed and rebuilt by way of over 80,000 square feet of walls covered in graffiti?! The eclectic @wynwoodwallsm are incredibly colorful and bold and inspiring and a must-see. I love that a rebirth is happening in the city from super talented artists in Miami. @houseandhost #locallyinspired #wynwood #wynwoodwalls
And when all else fails and you just want to relax, the beach will be waiting for you with open arms and bright sunshine.
Thank you for following along my Miami show and tell. It’s been a blast and I hope to see you down here soon! @houseandhost #locallyinspired #miami
