Confectionery connoisseur Tara Koenig offers her best girlfriends their just desserts.

“Mini cupcakes are universally appealing,” Koenig explains. “Plus, they allow guests to sample a couple of flavors.”

Mirassou’s Pinot Noir features light vanilla and oak notes that pair well with sweet small bites.

“Stick with desserts, snacks, and bubbly when entertaining,” suggests Koenig. “Nobody will leave hungry, and you can pre-plate everything so you won’t be stuck in the kitchen.”

Ever since opening the mint-colored doors of Sweethaus, her thriving cupcake café located in the heart of Brooklyn’s Williamsburg neighborhood, Tara Koenig has made a habit of hosting her best girlfriends to laid-back afternoon entertainments. At these, Koenig serves up a slew of sugary treats: small-batch cupcakes, locally made candies, and, of course, sparkly spirits galore, making the eatery an ideal spot for a midweek getaway with gal pals. “Cupcakes are always party appropriate,” Koenig says. “And no matter how casual the gathering, champagne always elevates the mood.”
