With so many people to thank this season (teachers, nurses, and doctors to name a few), the pressure around holiday gifting is greater than ever. According to Pinterest, users began brainstorming their gifts as early as May, with the term “Christmas gift ideas” searched three times more than in previous years. To narrow down the hunt, the brand put together a landing page with 2020’s most-sought-after gifts, and one trend surprised us: hanging chairs. Searches for the seating have tripled this winter and, based on shoppers’ pins, they are specifically loving this one from Serena & Lily.

The chair, crafted from bent rattan with a Scandi vibe, hangs from heavy-duty rope, allowing for super-sturdy swinging. Its scooped seat gets even comfier if you add a few throw pillows. Professional installation is recommended, though, so call on your favorite Task Rabbit to help you out.

If the simplicity of Serena & Lily’s pick isn’t your speed, check out Anthropologie’s intricately designed—but no assembly required—version or CB2’s pod-shaped faux wicker choice. 1stdibs offers a silhouette with open sides for a more modern take, while QVC’s fringed macramé option is budget friendly and a design statement.
