When Jessie De Lowe—certified yoga instructor, holistic health expert, and co-founder of wellness website How You Glow—found out she was expecting, her first priority was redesigning an old guest room into a glowy space for her baby. “The state of my home has a direct correlation with how I feel,” she says. “When one’s living space is clean, organized, and uncluttered, the same typically rings true for the conditions of the mind.”

This body-mind connection was the driving factor behind creating a space that would fit with the rest of the home aesthetically, but still provide that special, calming energy that a new baby so desperately requires. To help with that renovation, De Lowe turned to online interior design service Laurel & Wolf, who work together with the client to create a space that fits his or her vision.

The result? A bohemian, chic oasis that boasts unfussy accents, fuzzy rugs, tons of natural light, soft ivories, and pops of bright color. The little trinkets for baby Amelie were even more special, since De Lowe researched original, homemade pieces designed by local artisans—the favorite being the Copper and Rope 3-Tier Hanging Basket. The nautical themes add a sense of calmness to the room, while the soft carpeting leaves the room uncluttered, yet welcoming.

Designer Ryen Conley, who specializes in coastal, modern themes, tells Domino, “Matching Jessie’s home was quite easy. Her home already had a bohemian touch with natural light wood tones, crisp whites, soft textures, and simple minimal decor. I started by keeping the foundation neutral and added small pops of colors and accents throughout.  I wanted the overall look to be peaceful and serene.”

The nursery is also very interesting in the sense that it actually consists of two rather different, yet complementing parts: the baby’s area and the parents’ area. De Lowe says, “My husband and I have been sleeping in Amelie’s room since she was born, so it was crucial for us to have a comfortable set up. The bed is made from the same material as the crib, and the room is divided by a door, so it was pretty easy to make the two spaces separate, yet cohesive.”

The bed boasts silky soft linens and locally-made accent blankets, in a soft blue that echoes the window furnishings. The soft materials throughout the space fit the breezy theme, and the rugs continue over to the baby’s side of the nursery, making it a gentle transition that still feels like one big room.

Of course, being a yoga teacher, De Lowe made sure to incorporate some elements that boosted the aura of the space. “The Himalayan salt lamp is perfect for shedding some mellow, dreamy light during those late night feedings without waking up Amelie. Plus, it’s supposed to cleanse the air, along with my Dyson Pure Hot+Cool Air Purifier,” she says.

However, the star of the space has to be the Ouef Sparrow Crib, a stylish, sustainable accessory that draws immediate attention as soon as one walks into the room. Conley explains, “It’s a sustainable product and has a GREENGUARD Certification. GREENGUARD Certification ensures that a product has been manufactured with low chemical emissions. The Sparrow Crib is also non-toxic, water-based, and free of VOC health hazards.”

Not too mention, it’s minimalist chic at its finest. The crib is also convertible, which means it can be transformed into a bassinet or toddler bed—making it totally worth the money in the long run. “Creating a sacred space helps us carry a sense of calm throughout the day, knowing that no matter what chaos we encounter, there is a peaceful sanctuary to come home to,” says De Lowe. And she’s absolutely nailed it.
