What screams “It’s almost summer!” more than just-ripe strawberries? Over the weekend Nordstrom, in partnership with iconic Finnish design house Marimekko, launched a collection of products meant for fun in the sun—and the sweet fruit is front and center. While the apparel, footwear, and handbags will certainly help you look the part of an especially chic farmers’ market devotee, you won’t want to sleep on the decor.
From bright floral-print tableware to strawberry-dotted plates and a striped beach towel that would pair perfectly with a bowl of the real thing, Marimekko’s Treats of Life line is sure to add a burst of playful personality to no-frills backyard dinner parties and on-the-go seaside picnics. “I love the cheerful spirit of Marimekko, and this shop brings so much optimism during a time when we need it the most. I hope it inspires everyone to have fun and embrace bold prints and colors in their individual style,” said Olivia Kim, Nordstrom’s vice president of creative projects and home.
The collection is in celebration of Marimekko’s 70th anniversary, so it’s only fitting that the strawberry design gracing dishes, mugs, and pillows is a revival of a 1960s print that was previously archived. The Pop Art take on the produce places oversize strawberries against a cloud-dotted sky, transforming them into candy red mountains. Below, take a peek at Team Domino’s favorite pieces from the collection.
