Maximizing outdoor space is one part interior design, one part landscaping, and one part weather prediction. Even celebrities need a helping hand to outfit a patio they’ll actually want to spend time on. Jessica Alba, the actor and Honest Beauty founder, teamed up with Amazon Garden and Outdoor (hello, two-day Prime shipping) to transform her terrace from a blank slate to a cozy, laid-back retreat.

Pre-makeover, the area (not including the insane view) was bland. It was somewhere to look out rather than hang out. Starting from scratch, the first thing Alba decided on—and insisted on sticking to—was her color palette. “Pick four or five and just repeat them…that will really make your space look cohesive but also personalized,” Alba explains in a video tour of the terrace. The scheme in question is full of earthy creams and soft grays that allow the natural textures (rattan, teak, and an abundance of plants) to shine.

Alba’s new digs conquer every outdoor problem. Actually comfortable lounge chairs? Check. Space to work where the sun won’t blind you? Check. Plus a bar cart on each end of the expansive space ensures you’re never too far from happy hour. So…when can we come over to co-work?
